What Is Painting Your Own Pottery All About?

Let's get this straight - The Kiln is all about having fun and relaxing whilst painting and creating individualised pottery. And the best bit is that IT IS EASY!

1. You choose what you would like to paint.
2. We explain all that you need to know before you start painting.
3. You paint your pottery.
4. We glaze and fire it for you.
5. You collect the finished item the following week - you will be amazed at how
creative and clever you really are!

If your mind and pottery remain blank, we have ways of getting you started (books, stencils, stamps etc.).

You pay one £5 studio fee per daytime visit, per painter, plus the price of each piece of pottery that you paint. The fee is for the use of the colours, any other odds and ends that you might use during your visit, and the glazing and firing of your pottery. We have a very wide range of bisque shapes for you to choose from and each piece is priced individually.

If you're still not sure what painting your own pottery is all about, please phone us or call in to see us and it will all become clear!

Oh and by the way, if fewer than 5 of you wish to come and paint together you do not need to book.

Signing Plates

Signing Plates are an original way to mark any special occasion and are particularly popular for weddings and anniversaries.

Call in with your ideas (however vague!) and we will have a relaxed chat with you to help you develop those ideas and so create a perfect, personalised heirloom that will be treasured forever.

Whether you decide to paint it yourself or commission us to do the artwork for you, your chosen piece of pottery will need to be fired before it is ready to be signed. Don't worry, it isn't a complicated thing - we will explain the method to you. You will have to come and collect the Signing Plate on an agreed date so that you can take it to the wedding or party so that all the guests can sign it.

When you bring the signed plate back to us, we will paint over all the signatures before glazing and firing it, thus creating a lasting keepsake of your special occasion.

Lots of our other items are suitable for signing, so if you don't think that a plate would be appropriate, you might prefer to have a signed and decorated wine-cooler, vase or teapot instead.
